After your new Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) has been installed, it’s important to know how to clean it to stay in the best condition. Here are a few tips to help keep your LVT flooring clean and shining.

Sweep and Vacuum Regularly
Dirt and debris can cause scratches, so it’s important to regularly vacuum or sweep your floors with a soft broom, especially in high-traffic areas. It’s always best to have doormats in entrance ways to wipe off your shoes because small debris sticking to the bottom of your shoes could damage the flooring.
Use the Proper Cleaning Solutions
Knowing what cleaning solutions will not harm your LVT flooring is crucial. Avoid solutions that contain chemicals, such as bleach and ammonia, as these products can damage the layers of LVT flooring.
Household items like apple cider vinegar, white vinegar, and dishwashing soap are all safe to use. Apple cider’s acidity can eliminate grime build-up, allowing for stains to be removed before they have a chance to set in. Using a non-abrasive cloth is key to make sure you are not scratching the floor as you are cleaning. A microfiber cloth is always best.
Do Not Let Water or Cleaning Solutions Stand
Despite LVT’s water-resistant properties, it’s important to not let water or cleaning solutions stand as the liquid can seep through the cracks, risking damage to your new floors. It’s also important to know that LVT flooring should never be steam-cleaned as it will damage the flooring if it is exposed to both water and intense heat.
